About road trips, music and ehmmm

There’s something about road trips that’s just refreshing, rejuvenating, invigorating, quickening…. I travelled to eGoli, the city of gold (Johannesburg) last week and I have not felt alive in ages! Just the change of scenery does wonders. I felt so energised, so recharged and the creative juices started flowing again, so effortlessly… Road trips, neh.

It was not only about the road trip but, the destination too and the company. While I was in the city of lights, the first place I went to was my favourite spot in the entire province, Newtown Junction.

There’s something about walking down those streets of Newtown, the general vibe of the environment is just artsy, groovy…. It oozes with inspiration. I absolutely love the place, it really is alive! If I could paint Newtown, I’d definitely use rare, happy and bright colours. The place is magical. It was great being back at the museum after about a whole year. Passing through the legendary Niki’s Oasis Jazz Restaurant brought back memories of Linda Gabriel:s farewell poetry slam. The place was established in 1995 and has been home to many Jazz icons. The place has an easy laid back vibe to it. Certainly the place to be when you want to relax and let your hair down.

I think Newtown needs a whole post on it alone. Today, I’m just talking about road trips, music and ehmmmm…. But, I’m running out of time as I have an appointment in 15minutes. I’ll continue this soon, about road trips, music and ehmmmm…
