Have you ever seen how single women are treated in society at large, even in church!
For some reason single women are not given any respect as human beings, worse if they are single because of divorce. Unfortunately, the widows are not spared of this dehumanizing treatment from society. Young married women speak to senior women who are single any way they feel like it, even tell at them even if they are grandmothers. Does being single mean you are not deserving of any respect?
Women of this era do not accord other women respect due to seniority in age but rather marital status. How then do we expect the younger generation to be respectful of elders when they hear the same elders being disrespected in public?
I still stand to be corrected, these opinions expressed are solely based on my personal experiences.

It is good for you to encourage people to think about this.
The people from church who follow Jesus the Christ should know better. But many forget what made them want to follow Jesus.
We are all broken deep inside and have made serious mistakes because we wanted to. And we will all make more mistakes, because at a moment we will want to. The message of Jesus is “come to me all you who carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest”.
But when we get a little rest and feel better, we forget that we were once desparate to find rest. And then we are proud that we are followers of Jesus and start to consider ourselves better than others. We should be considering the moments when we want to make mistakes – then we can love other people in honesty.
Consider the woman who does not have a husband. No matter her age. Women need to be loved. Men need to be loved. All need to belong to a special person who will stay with them when bad happens, even if the bad came from within. When we see the woman who does not have the status of belonging, who is single, we should see someone who still needs to belong and be loved, just like everyone else.
And we should love them.
Jesus said “A New Command I give you: Love One Another”
