After two years of working on Upclose and Personal with Zim Artists, I felt it was time to grow from only concentrating on Zimbabwean artists to a wider spectrum. In L’Afrique, I talk about almost everything African. African culture, lifestyle, music, television, film, old school music and television and All That African Jazz. It is my wish to make the blog bigger and better and I hope I have achieved it.

I would like to thank everyone who follows this blog here and on http://www.facebook.com/afriquebeat. It is your support that keeps me going. I would also like to thank fellow bloggers who take their time to reblog, like and comment on my posts. Thank you very much for the re-tweets and the awards, especially to a dear blogger friend Sally of http://www.smorgasbordinvitation.wordpress.com.

I would also like to thank David Mungoshi, an award winning writer, lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe and also my editor for editing most of the articles on this blog. A huge thank you to my friends who support me and help me keep going: B. Nyamhondera, T. Hove and D. Johnson-Laird just to mention a few. And last but not least a special thank you to Mabasa Sasa, former editor of The Southern Times for setting the writing wheels in motion.

I’m a long time, avid reader of Constance van Niekerk’s writings.
I find her contributions to the main-stream media, in the Life Style & Entertainment pages of the Herald; informative, well researched and a satisfying read.

I equally enjoy and strongly recommend her blog pages: The Chronicles of Constance and the former Up Close & Personal, which has transformed and matured into this l’Afrique Beat page.

I say: “More Grease to your Elbow” mai Van Niekerk!
